Paleo Challenge Results
For the past 8 weeks, many of the members of CrossFit Conway have participated in a Paleo Diet challenge. During this challenge, participants were required to keep a food log every single day. This task alone, is extremely challenging for most individuals. The commitment and self discipline to record everything consumed over an 8 week period is at very least, down right IMPRESSIVE! The challenge also required that participants refrain from eating dairy, grains, any processed foods and artificial sweeteners. The contest was designed to be challenging, with the goal of achieving decreased body fat and improved overall health.
The food log requirements proved to be even more difficult than the food restrictions. The individuals that were able to maintain the diet through to the end are reaping the benefits of hard work, self control and determination.
The challenge had two categories: Most overall points, and most percentage of body fat lost.
The points category was designed to test how well an individual could stick to the requirements of the challenge, thus ensuring outstanding results.
The body fat percentage category was designed to reward the individual with the most dramatic changes in composition. Using body fat percentage, compared to using weight as a tool, was completely intentional. After seeing the results, it is obvious that weight is completely irrelevant as related to overall health and visual results.

Congratulations on receiving amazing results in such a short period of time. While it may have been difficult to maintain a log, the changes in diet are obvious from the results.

Laura Thomas: 2.4% BF and 5.75 inches Lost
Nick Bertin: 3% BF and 6 inches Lost
Gina Callaway: 2% BF lost (Gained 3 pounds)
Cara Duren: 3%BF and 5.5 inches lost (Lost 1 pound)
Jason Antal: 3% BF and 2 inches down (weighed exactly the same )
Levi Lovin: 2% BF and 5.5 inches down
Chad Russell: 5% BF and 7 inches down
Joey Lamb: 4.2% BF and 1.5 inches in Abdomen down (increased inches in thigh, chest and arms)
Jon Mitchell: 3.1% BF and 4.75 inches down
The results above are from only 8 weeks of hard work. It is truly amazing what the human body is capable of if it is fueled correctly. These individuals were expected to be perfect for 8 weeks. Eating paleo however, does not mean being perfect. The benefits of the diet can be achieved by being conscious of food choices. Take a good look in the mirror. If you look exactly the way you want to look, and if you perform exactly the way you want to perform, then whatever you are consuming is working. If you want to make a change visually, or through performance, it begins with what is on the end of your fork. Great results can be achieved from slight changes, outstanding results can be achieved through dramatic changes.
