Eddie Milligan

Eddie is 51 years old and came to crossfit a year ago while he was recovering from cancer treatment. He knew it would aid in his recovery and help him get his strength back.

Eddie had always been active. He played basketball and baseball throughout high school and college. As an adult, he enjoyed running and was a scratch golfer. Since starting crossfit, Eddie has taken up cycling and has increased his race time by at least 30% and in Eddie's words, "recently was able to run over an SUV on his bike" and credits crossfit for his short recovery. He has also increased his crossfit AMRAP's two fold.

Eddie says his favorite things about crossfit are the camaraderie, professional instructors and the ability to mix up workouts each time. He believes crossfit is a way, at any age, to get in shape and maintain or build on what you have or don't have.

Eddie is looking to finish in the top five during criterium racing for 2015 and finish first in criterium racing for the 50+ age group.

Eddie has worked hard and made great strides in his mobility, flexibility and endurance over the last year and we know he's going to continue to see improvements in his sport and reach his goals. What a great inspiration and all around human being!! We're proud to call him friend and celebrate him as our athlete of the month.

Julia Willey

Julia says that she may not be the best at anything, BUT she is definitely getting better everyday. We couldn’t agree more! When she first started at CrossFit Conway in April of 2013, she could not get more than 45lbs over her head, and she couldn't run more than 400 meters without stopping to rest. Her most recent PR's include a 200# Deadlift, 100lb split jerk (we’d say that’s WELL over 45lbs) and a 110lb power clean! Julia completed half of Murph (with Amber Antal) this year, and plans on doing the entire WOD next year.

Her goals include getting a dead-hang pull-up, improving at double unders so she can do them in a WOD, and she wants to make sure to show up for EVERY running WOD (let’s keep her accountable with this, people)!! She also wants to be able to perform Handstand push-ups and handstand walks! She wanted to include that she could not have done ANY of this without all of the coaches. Julia said there were many times she would come in with a certain goal or PR on her mind, and when she would tell the coach what it was, they looked at her and said "you can beat that"… and she did! Almost every time!!

JULIA – we are SO proud of you!!! You are fantastic and we LOVE having you as part of our family! You have grown and improved so much and we believe in you tremendously!!! Congratulations again!

Jordan Bone

Jordan Bone, age 31, has been doing Crossfit for 2 1/2 years. Jordan started Crossfit after he read an article about how it was good to do during his triathlon training.

When asked his favorite thing about Crossfit, he said it was the community and the challenge.

“The best athletes act no better than the least athletic”
“Crossfit provides a new challenge every day and anything that gets me out of my comfort zone and challenges me keeps me coming back.”

Jordan sets and achieves new goals inside the box almost weekly. He wants to eventually do a marathon and an Ironman. He believes Crossfit is at it’s best when it gets people to go just past their breaking point and never allows them to go back.

Jordan has recently become a new Dad. He has been a great asset to our community and we’re thankful he has chosen to be a part of our Maumelle family.

Jake Horton

We are beyond excited to recognize Jake as our athlete spotlight for August! Jake has been such an incredible addition to our box, and it is truly inspiring to watch him work with such dedication! Since Jake has been at CrossFit Conway, he has experienced a lot of improvements, some of which include a 3:20 1k meter row, a #195 clean & jerk, and a #215 push jerk!! His biggest goals from here on out are to be able to perform muscle ups, run a mile in under 6 minutes, and he would like to improve his mobility. He also wants to see improvement in his form for all of his lifts.

Jake said that he is really excited about being chosen as our athlete spotlight for this month and he wanted to be sure to thank all of the awesome people who’ve made CrossFit Conway his second home!!

Jake, we absolutely LOVE having you here, and we wouldn’t be the same box without you! Keep up the good work!!!
